NEW HAVEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION BEGINS MAY 1 AND RUNS ALL MONTH LONG
(5/1/2013)
New Haven Public Schools kindergarten registration for new students entering neighborhood schools begins Wednesday, May 1, and runs until May 31. Parents and guardians have until the end of the month to register and be included in the June 14th lottery for new students.
All families new to New Haven Public Schools must visit the Registration Office at 54 Meadow Street, New Haven, to register and should bring the following documents:
• Birth certificate
• Proof of residence (current utility bill, tax bill, a rental lease agreement or mortgage papers)
• The Kindergarten Neighborhood School Registration Form can be picked up in the Registration Office.
There is no longer a "first come, first served" admission policy for neighborhood schools, so parents can come to the Registration Office any time during the month of May to register and be entered into the June 14 lottery. If there are enough kindergarten seats available in a neighborhood school when placements are made, all families registered for that neighborhood school will be admitted. If there are more newly registered students than seats available, then a lottery will be held to determine who is admitted and the order of the waiting list.
The Registration Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m
Also, please note that children must have up-to-date physical examinations and immunization records before they can enter school. This form can be dropped off in the Registration Office in the Drop Box or mailed to the NH Health Department, 54 Meadow St. 9th floor, New Haven, 06519 by July 19, 2013.
